Homemade Chocolate Syrup
Makes 4 cups1 cup cocoa powder
2 cups water
4 cups sugar
1 T honey
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extractWhisk the cocoa powder and water together in a saucepan until smooth.
Place pan over medium heat, add the sugar, and stir until completely disolved.
Bring to a boil and cook for a full 3 minutes, whisking all the time.
Be careful not only to avoid having the syrup boil over, but to avoid scorching.
Remove from heat, add the salt and the vanilla.
Mix well and allow to come to room temperature before pouring into a glass lidded jar (i.e. a mason jar) for storage.
Will keep in refrigerator for several months
