The Dream

In 10 years Jia and Accolan hope to find themselves living, once again, in a home of our own.

They hope to live on a sizable plot of land “in the country”, most likely in Vermont.

They hope for land enough to hold a lot of edible landscaping – fruit and nut bearing trees, berry bushes, and space to plant herbs and vegetables.

They hope to have a few chickens to supply eggs, and perhaps a goat or two as well.

They hope to live a self-sufficient life.

They hope to have simplified their lives, in terms of “stuff” and debt, so that they are able to live on very little.

They plan to learn how to mend, make-do, or make it themselves more often than not.

They plan to learn to preserve food so that they can use their future garden’s excess to fill their pantry for the colder months.  They plan to stock up when prices are lowest and avoid the temptations of impulse purchases and junk food by avoiding shopping as much as possible.

They plan to have an office they share, where they can work surrounded by books, crystals, and “raw” ingredients to use in crafting the items they will sell through their home business.

They spend much of their days working on inventory, writing articles, and maybe even a book or two.

When its Spring they start seeds, and plant seedlings, and watch the bulbs they plant each fall fill their world with color.

When its Summer, they spend each day in the garden, and listen to the night sounds as they head to bed early, tired and happy.

When its Fall, they check their stores for the cold season ahead, and watch the leaves change and fill the world with color.

When its Winter, they sit in front of the fireplace reading and watch the snow fall on the standing stones in the back yard.

It’s a simple life, in a lot of ways.

It’s a hard life, in a lot of ways.

But it’s a happy and fulfilling life, and it’s all they ever wanted.

This is a lovely dream. My husband and I too hope to own a property and some land one day, and work from home.
May your dream come true :)
